Votes at a glance: Needham committees approve invoices and submit schematic design to MSBA

The Town of Needham’s Permanent Public Building Committee on June 22 approved multiple administrative invoices and authorized the School Building Committee to submit the Paul Middle School schematic design to the MSBA.

Invoice approvals
- BH+A (architect) invoice: The committee approved payment of $4,500 from the architect’s budget for services through May 2026. Motion introduced by Chair Richard K and approved by roll call.
- Newman Theater assistant upgrade invoices: The committee approved four invoices (three from Dove Connection and one from Apple Inc.) totaling $2,935.19 from the technology budget. The committee voted by roll call to approve the aggregate payment.
- NV5 commissioning invoice: An invoice from NV5 for RTU replacement/commissioning services for June 2026 in the amount of $1,610.75 was approved; the committee discussed one problematic rooftop unit and the potential for an extended warranty before voting.

All three billing motions were seconded and passed by roll call; members present voted in the affirmative. Committee members confirmed that invoices are charged to the stated budgets (architect, technology, miscellaneous) and that project staff will follow up on warranty and commissioning items where units remain problematic.

Schematic design submittal vote
The School Building Committee and Permanent Public Building Committee also approved submitting the Paul Middle School schematic design to the MSBA (see separate article). The motion was placed by Chair Richard K, seconded, and passed unanimously by roll call of the members present.

Next administrative steps include posting the schematic packet to town and project websites and processing approved invoices through their respective budgets.
