Linn County approves $14,432.93 guardrail purchase; grader and dump truck set for repairs

Public Works reported equipment issues and a roadside safety need at the June 21 Linn County Commission meeting. Staff said a motor grader in Chanute and a dump truck require repairs and will be evaluated for repair cost estimates; the grader should have an estimate by the end of the day and the dump truck was sent to Freightliner for diagnosis.

Public Works presented a quote from Wellborn Sales to replace guardrail and posts burned in a ditch fire outside Parker. The quote totaled $14,432.93 for posts, end blocks and materials; staff said there is no applicable insurance coverage for the damage and county crews will perform the installation. A commissioner moved to approve the purchase and the motion passed by voice vote.

Staff said they will bring the grader repair estimate to the commission next week for approval of repairs as needed.
