Lake Alfred commission approves CDD boundary change, library design, water‑line relocation, gates and traffic‑calming pilot

The commission also approved Task Order #5 with Wickham & Banks for architectural and engineering design of a library expansion ($147,000.46), noting the city has set aside $2.5 million for construction and has received local donations and a pending state funding request.

Bid award — security gates: The commission awarded a $127,400 contract to Tim Reiner Construction for automated access gates, fencing and associated controls at the public safety parking lot and the public works training facility, and authorized the city manager to negotiate and execute the construction contract.

Complete Streets — Glen Cruden Avenue pilot: As a pilot under the Complete Streets program the commission approved a traffic‑calming plan for North Glen Cruden Avenue that includes horizontal deflection and a mountable mini‑circle. Several residents and commissioners expressed concern about a school bus stop and speeding along the corridor; staff said the proposal is a pilot and that plan details can be modified by the city manager and engineers.
