Mr. Romansky, the district buildings-and-grounds representative, told the board the district has multiple pieces of obsolete or unused equipment and proposed using Wisconsin Surplus (an online municipal-auction service) to sell items in a live online format without hauling material off-site.
He said the district could keep many items in place and that proceeds would be designated to buildings and grounds for capital purchases rather than routed to the general fund. "We're estimating between $30,000 and $60,000," the presenter said, adding that auction results depend on buyer interest.
Board members asked what would be sold (examples included older lawn mowers, a blade sharpener and a log splitter) and whether furniture from consolidation would be included. The presenter said most furniture had already been redistributed or disposed of and that he would provide a detailed list of auction items before the sale.
The board recommended the plan and approved the motion to designate surplus-auction proceeds for buildings and grounds; the motion carried with an opposed vote recorded. Final sale dates and a detailed item list will be prepared and shared with the board.
