The Merrimac Green Advisory Committee decided on May 25 to begin distributing a townwide Green Energy Survey the week of the meeting and to include the survey in the Light Department’s utility bills beginning June 1.
The committee approved the minutes from April 20, 2026, and the meeting agenda before moving to the survey plan. Distribution points named by members included the public library, the senior center, the Light Department office, and community flyer locations; members also agreed to promote the survey through social media and local cable access.
Kendra Bowker, a committee member, will send presentation slides to the Selectboard from a May 12 presentation by Dillan Patel, ask whether the Selectboard has questions, and propose meeting with town department heads. The committee agreed it could seek a sign-off on the initiative in a month or two. Committee member Mike Stevens reported he spoke with the superintendent at Pentucket, who said he would consider signing off as well.
Liaison Ed Davis will check with Mary about any response from Homeworks regarding a spring event in Merrimac. Members noted that ACES has offered to speak to the committee about collaborating on energy efficiency and waste issues, but the committee agreed to concentrate on completing and distributing the survey at least through the next meeting.
The committee scheduled its next meeting for June 22, 2026, 6:30–8:00 p.m., at the Merrimac Police Department with Zoom access. No formal vote tallies were recorded in the minutes for the approvals or the distribution decision.
