The Brentwood Board of Commissioners voted unanimously to adopt Resolution 2026-57, authorizing a lease with Vogue Towers 2, LLC to install a cellular antenna and related facilities on the Marcella Viverette Smith Park water tank.
Assistant City Manager described the item as the second lease the commission has approved to address local cellular coverage gaps following a prior lease near police headquarters. Staff presented signal-propagation maps showing improved coverage in the northern quadrant of Brentwood if the antenna is sited at the park water tank. The assistant city manager said the antenna will be designed to "blend in with the environment and be as unobtrusive as possible" and noted code requirements to camouflage the structure so it will "look like... as good a rendition of a tree as a tower can." He said the planning commission will review the installation under the city's newly established tier-4 process.
Several commissioners praised the mayor's persistent work to address coverage gaps and described the installation as a necessary improvement following communications outages during a recent ice storm. The commission approved the lease and related resolution by unanimous voice vote.
Staff said maps and additional design details are part of the planning-review record; the planning commission's review is a next procedural step for final site and design approvals.
