Hull council extends lease for volunteer fire department for 30 years

The Hull City Council unanimously approved a 30-year extension of the lease for the Hull Volunteer Fire Department at its Sept. 25 meeting.

Mayor John Barber told council members that Chief Austin of the Hull VFD had requested consideration of a long-term lease extension because the city is not currently in a position to legally transfer the land where the fire station is located. Council member Mike McElroy moved to extend the lease; Council member Paige Phillips seconded the motion, which passed unanimously.

The council directed the city attorney, Attorney Love, to prepare the necessary lease documents for review at the October meeting. No vote tally beyond unanimous approval was recorded in the meeting minutes and no financial terms of the lease were discussed in the meeting record.
