Selectmen approve kayak-launch adjustments, equipment purchases and routine municipal contracts

The selectmen recorded several routine but consequential municipal items across the minutes.

Kayak launch: TM Billings said the Ramos family agreed to allow additional kayak space at the south end of Webb’s Cove in addition to existing space near the tin building; the town will confirm property lines with surveyor Linda Campbell and seek volunteers for cleanup and site preparation.

Equipment and contracts: The board voted 5-0 to buy a replacement gas-powered striper with attachments for $3,500 (motion recorded March 15). The board also approved a three-year street-sweeping contract (approximate costs recorded in the minutes) and other routine warrant approvals.

Appointments: The board recorded appointments and noted the hiring of Rufus Kiliam as the new Harbormaster; TM placed an ARPA (American Rescue Plan Act) funding acceptance article for approximately $119,000 on the horizon and suggested using those funds for broadband components in the town broadband project in the upcoming town-meeting warrant.

These items were routine approvals and assignments intended to maintain municipal operations and prepare for summer services.
