The Yerington City Council published an agenda for its June 22, 2026 meeting that packages multiple proposed contracts, budget transfers and grant approvals for city action.
The packet proposes an 11-month engagement with Porter Group, LLC, to provide federal government affairs consulting at $6,000 per month ($66,000 total) beginning Aug. 1, 2026. The Porter Group engagement letter included in the packet says the firm would help the city pursue Community Project Funding requests, draft appropriations language and coordinate with Nevada’s congressional staff.
Also on the agenda is a proposed collective bargaining agreement between the City and the Yerington Police Officers Association covering the 2026–27 year. The draft labor contract in the packet includes step wage tables for officers, sergeants and lieutenants, cost-of-living adjustments, specialty and assignment pay (K-9, SRO, investigator, bilingual pay) and standard grievance and benefits provisions.
The council will be asked to consider two appropriation-transfer resolutions: Resolution 2026-08 would move $107,277 from General Fund contingency to cover items including kennel repairs and a $125,000 increase to the police budget; Resolution 2026-09 would reallocate $800,000 within the Water Fund from non-operating to operating expenditures. Both resolutions cite NRS 354.598005 as authorization for intra-fund transfers.
The packet also lists room-tax grant recommendations from the Yerington Room Tax Board, including a $10,000 award to the Lyon County Fair/Rodeo/Livestock Show and smaller grants to the Great Basin Lavender Association and the Mason Valley Beekeepers. Draft contracts for municipal judge services (Brandi Jensen, $2,500 per month) and building inspector services (Top Notch Construction & Development, $2,000 per month) are included as For Possible Action items. The employment agreement for Interim City Manager Jeremy ‘Jerry’ Bryant is also in the packet, proposing a three-year appointment with a $120,328 starting salary.
The packet contains supporting documentation from the Nevada Public Agency Insurance Pool (POOL/PACT) summarizing coverage and member costs for the 2026–27 renewal period; the materials list a Yerington member contribution of $151,035.70 and a total program cost of $161,606.02.
The agenda materials instruct how the public may participate in person or via Zoom and note that written public comments must be received by 4 p.m. the business day before the meeting to be included in the packet. The council’s formal actions on the June 22 items will be recorded at the meeting itself.
