Board approves $108,461 activity bus purchase, accepts donations and fundraisers

The North Miami Community Schools board authorized the purchase of an activity bus from Kerlin Bus Sales for $108,461 during its Jan. 20 meeting. The motion to approve the purchase carried 6-0.

The board also accepted multiple donations: Community Church of Mexico gave $1,083 to the middle/high school kitchen; Denver Baptist Church donated $638.97 to the FFA; and an anonymous donor contributed $1,000 to the MS/HS kitchen/Angel Fund. The board approved those donations unanimously.

Fundraisers approved included Little Caesars pizza kits and DeRoziers Donuts sales by the Class of 2027 to raise prom funds, and a Crush sale by the NJHS to support student needs and activities. All fundraiser requests were approved 6-0.

The purchase and donations were approved as part of the business and donations agenda items; the minutes do not spell out delivery dates for the bus or how the donated funds will be allocated beyond the listed designations.
