The West Contra Costa Unified School District’s 7‑Eleven committee approved the minutes from its May 14, 2026 meeting and agreed to postpone action on older minutes until members can review the full record.
Chair James Sanders called the meeting to order and, after discussion, a roll‑call vote approved the May 14 minutes. Committee members then voted to table approval of minutes from March 5, March 19, March 26, June 11, June 25 and July 15, 2024 so members could review recordings, AI transcriptions and packet materials before confirming the earlier records.
Members raised concerns about how the minutes record public comment. One member asked whether the line in the minutes that states 'there was no solicitation of public comment' should instead read simply 'there were no public comments' to remove ambiguity about whether the chair failed to call for comment or whether nobody chose to speak. Chair Sanders ruled to leave the current wording unchanged, while members acknowledged they could amend minutes later if corrections are warranted.
The committee also discussed which parliamentary rules apply to the body (Robert’s Rules versus a local Rosenberg practice) and whether that affects how debate is ended and the apparent control of motions. Several members requested clarifying guidance from legal counsel at a future meeting.
The committee will revisit the tabled minutes at a subsequent meeting after members have had time to examine the recordings and associated materials.
