Sammy Jackson, who identified herself as a coordinator for local sports programs, asked the Klamath County School District board to help get the restroom and concession building at the Chiloquin Elementary baseball fields operational so the leagues can stop relying on rented porta‑potties. Jackson said the building has electricity, donated toilet fixtures and sinks lined up and that two porta‑potties currently cost about $145 each per month.
Board members and staff discussed next steps: a sewer camera inspection to determine connection needs, an estimate of labor and materials, and coordination with the city (for permitting) and facilities staff (Dennis was named as the point of contact). Staff agreed to have Dennis investigate and report back at the July board meeting. Board members raised potential for volunteer labor and city partnership to reduce permitting costs.
What was not decided: No funding amount or formal commitment of district dollars was authorized at the meeting; staff will return with an estimate and a recommendation in July.
