During the public-comment portion of the June 18 meeting, parent Cara Human asked the board to approve a resolution directing staff to educate the community about Amendment 5, which will appear on the August 4 ballot. "According to estimates from the Missouri Budget Project, if Amendment 5 passes, FHSD could lose approximately 17.8 million annually or 5.2% of the district budget," she said, and asked the board to work with neighboring districts on outreach.
Francine Hill, identified as FHA president, echoed the appeal and urged trustees and the public to learn about the proposed change. Both speakers framed their comments as requests for factual education (not advocacy) and noted the compressed summer timeframe for communicating to families.
Board members indicated they understood the request and administration said the district can post plain-language factual explanations on its website (subject to statutory limits on ballot language and advocacy). The board did not adopt a formal resolution against the amendment during the meeting.
