The Carbondale Tree Board on June 19 elected Vanessa Harmony as its next chair and confirmed a vice chair in a unanimous vote following nominations and brief discussion.
Outgoing Chair Paige, who said she has served on the board for eight years, told members she is stepping off the board. "I have been on this board for eight years… I will be moving off the board," Paige said, and opened the floor for nominations. After a nomination and a second, members voted unanimously to approve Harmony as chair and selected Joanne Temple and Harmony in leadership roles as discussed.
Board members then approved the consent agenda and minutes after a request to clarify a May member-comment about the town’s relationship with a neighboring jurisdiction. The minutes motion passed after the requested edit.
During member comments, board member Josh Crawford announced he will relocate to Raleigh, North Carolina to pursue a master’s degree; he said his expected departure from local attendance will be July 25 and that he is willing to serve remotely if the town’s rules permit. Members expressed support for remote participation if policy allows and noted they will check whether out-of-jurisdiction service is permitted without displacing a local seat.
The board closed the item by noting next steps on member seats and encouraged staff to check permitting rules and trustee schedules before the next meeting.
