On June 18 the Trenton City Council voted to adopt the fiscal year 2027 tax budget and to authorize the city financial director to submit the budget to the Butler County Budget Commission.
Council then authorized the city manager to enter an agreement with Telvac Environmental for emergency sewer repairs in the amount of $138,775. City Manager Nichols and staff explained the repair method would line the existing sanitary sewer rather than excavating the line, reducing surface disruption. “The intent is not to dig up the sanitary sewer line. The intent is to line it,” staff said.
Council members asked whether the award reflected a single bid; staff said the company is the regular contractor for sewer scoping and that rapid action was requested because the repair was needed promptly. The motion to authorize the contract passed on roll call.
Votes and procedural notes: The FY2027 tax budget motion passed by roll call; the Telvac contract authorization passed by roll call with no recorded dissent. Earlier in the meeting council approved minutes where two members abstained on one vote.
What’s next: Staff will submit the FY2027 budget to the county commission and the public‑works department will oversee contract execution; staff listed follow‑up reporting and required contract documents for council review.
