Board approves professional services contracts after vendor remediation plan

The Milwaukee Board of School Directors approved the award of professional services contracts June 18 after accountability staff reported that one vendor, Cisco, was out of compliance with contract service requirements but had submitted an approved remediation plan.

Matt Jason Oe of the Office of Accountability and Efficiency told the board the vendor remained out of compliance on specific contract obligations but that the approved remediation plan addressed the issues and there was "no reason not to move forward" with the administration's recommendation. Director Resza moved to approve the contracts and Director Seamson seconded; the roll call vote recorded six affirmative votes and the motion passed.

The board did not record further contractual details in open session; the Office of Accountability and Efficiency said it had worked with the vendor to secure the remediation plan prior to the vote.
