Board honors student delegate Matteo De la Cruz and highlights summer programs

The Milwaukee Board of School Directors issued a proclamation June 18 honoring student delegate Matteo De la Cruz for his service as an inaugural student delegate. President Zomber read the proclamation that praised De la Cruz’s leadership and role in reestablishing student representation on the board.

Matteo De la Cruz thanked the board and his parents and said he plans to attend the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee this fall to study business management with a minor in political science. "I'd like to thank my parents for coming and getting me to this point," he said, and he asked that remaining student delegates receive similar recognition.

In her monthly report, President Zomber highlighted attending a Safe Summer Sites kickoff and noted investments in Twilight Centers to expand summer hours for students. The board recessed briefly to take photos with the departing student delegate.
