The Granada Community Services District board voted unanimously on June 18 to continue covering candidate statement costs for the November 3 general election.
Staff explained the background requested by the board: outreach to the county elections office showed that of 22 special districts on the November ballot, only five currently cover candidate statement costs and only three allow 400‑word statements. Using the June election as a reference, staff said translating statements into three languages cost roughly $198 per candidate for a 200‑word statement and about $396 for a 400‑word statement; staff cautioned those figures may vary by election and number of translations.
A board member moved that the district continue to cover the cost; the motion carried 5–0. The record at the meeting does not show a final decision on a specific 200‑ or 400‑word limit, only that the district will continue paying the election office fees for candidate statements.
The board asked staff to retain the outreach information in meeting materials and to proceed with the district’s established procedure for covering statement costs in the November election.
