The Granada Community Services District board voted unanimously on June 18 to authorize General Manager Chuck Duffy to negotiate with the successor trustee of the Reed Camper Family Trust for the parcel at 400 Alhamra (APN 047‑251‑160).
Directors described the appointment as ministerial under the Government Code, which requires the board to designate a real property negotiator when district interest in acquisition is discussed. The item will also be considered in closed session, directors said.
Public comment preceded the vote. Lenny Schultz, who identified himself as an El Granada resident, urged the board to support appointing Chuck Duffy and described the property as well‑located for a community center. Schultz said he has been involved in local preservation efforts and expressed hope the Burnham strip parcel could become public open space; he noted the parcel’s setting and fencing make it suitable for community events. "Of course, he's the best um negotiator um for this property," Schultz said in support of the appointment.
Former board member Leonard Warren also addressed the board, urging acquisition of Burnham strip parcels and noting historical plans for a coastal buffer; Warren said the district is uniquely positioned to preserve remaining strip parcels.
The board moved and seconded a motion to authorize the general manager to negotiate for the property; the motion carried 5–0.
