Five Counties offers to update Glendale's general plan; council asks planning commission to review

Kevin Smedley, representing Five Counties (speaker 7), told the Glendale Town Council that state law requires a general plan with land-use and traffic/circulation elements and that the town's current plan dates from 2001. He described how an updated plan and an interactive zoning map make the town more competitive for grant funds and simplify future updates.

Smedley offered Five Counties' assistance without charging for his services and described options: a public meeting or open-house, possible resident surveys and added infrastructure or mapping elements. Council members asked about state-supported interactive zoning maps and funding; Smedley said the state is paying for zoning maps for utility cities and towns and that legislative funds support his position.

The council moved and seconded a motion to have Five Counties present the general plan draft to the town's planning and zoning commission for review and possible update; the motion passed unanimously. Staff were directed to coordinate scheduling with Laurie and the planning commission.
