Board receives demolition bids for two unsafe properties and refers them to purchasing

At the June 18 meeting, the Richmond City Board of Works and Safety accepted proof of publication for a hearing on the demolition of two unsafe buildings at 111 South 11th Street and 811 North 19th Street. The clerk read bids from several contractors: Michael Excavating (New Paris, Ohio) submitted $12,800 for 811 North 19th Street and $35,450 for 111 South 11th Street; Cox Excavating bid $28,700 for 111 South 11th and $17,475 for 811 North 19th; BNB Construction (Richmond) bid $32,970 for 111 South 11th and B&B Construction bid $31,765 for 811 North 19th.

The chair moved to receive the quotes and refer them to the purchasing department for evaluation and recommendation; the motion carried by voice vote. The board opened the public portion of the hearing but recorded no public comments before closing the public hearing segment.

Next steps: Purchasing staff will evaluate the submitted quotes and return a recommendation to the board for a contract award or further action.
