Harford County Health Department representatives said the county participates in two state‑administered programs to expand vaccine access. On the Public Health Matters program, Medical Deputy Dr. Jamie Sibel explained the Vaccine for Children (VFC) program and the newer Maryland Vaccine Program (MVP) for adults.
Dr. Sibel said VFC is federally funded, administered through the state, and provides recommended childhood vaccines at no cost to children 18 and under who are Medicaid‑eligible, uninsured, underinsured, or American Indian/Alaska Native; she noted there may be a small administrative fee but the vaccines themselves are free. Harford County offers VFC services at its Edgewood clinic.
She described MVP as a Maryland Department of Health program that extends free vaccines to adults 19 and older who are uninsured or underinsured and noted the county is promoting MVP to reach adults facing access barriers. The county’s Edgewood location was named as a local access point for both programs.
The Health Department encouraged residents with questions about eligibility, schedules, or administrative fees to consult the county’s resources page or call the clinic for specifics; no new local funding or policy changes were announced during the broadcast.
