At the Fire Merit Board meeting, staff asked for permission to open a new hiring process and create a two-year eligibility list after exhausting the prior list. "The current list that you guys approved...all three applicants have been hired off of it. So, right now we don't have a current list. So, I'm asking permission to get a new hiring process and for you guys to open up a new hiring process so we can start advertising and get that going so we have a list to go off of," Shane said.
Board members discussed the plan to use the same third-party vendor as before for online screening and interviews. Shane confirmed the vendor will administer initial online interviews and assist in processing applications. When asked whether the department would repeat the previous approach, staff said yes: "No, we're going to use that third third party. Yeah. Where they do the online interview and all that...Yeah, same process as last."
Board members present voiced support. The clerk asked for assent from Nicole Barrios and Rob Johnson; both indicated they were "good" with proceeding. The board approved opening the new hiring process and directed staff to advertise; staff said they expect to begin outreach within about one week.
The meeting closed with scheduling the next board meeting for July 16 at 5:00 p.m. and adjournment at 5:04 p.m.
