During the June 18 meeting the Plat Committee discussed process changes to reduce last‑minute revisions between technical committee review and the plat committee meeting.
Staff said the current short window can make it difficult for surveyors and staff to issue revised drawings after tech review: "One way I can think that we could change this is if we change the distance between tech and plat… Maybe starting next year when we develop that calendar," staff said, suggesting a longer interval or better notice to surveyors.
Board members expressed differing preferences. One member said electronic delivery would be helpful: "I would go more electronic. I think it'd be a better long‑term position for the county," the member said. Jack, another committee member, said he prefers paper but could accept electronic files on an iPad: "I like the paper copy. Now, if I can get it on my iPad, okay."
Staff proposed notifying board members and surveyors by email when updated PDFs arrive and offering printed 11x17 copies on request. The committee did not adopt a formal rule at the meeting but asked staff to pursue a broader discussion when the calendar for the next year is developed.
What’s next: staff will explore options to provide updated drawings electronically and to solicit input from surveyors and stakeholders before changing the technical‑to‑plat schedule.
