The Waukesha City Board of Public Works elected officers and handled routine business at its June 18 meeting, approving minutes, payments and several project communications.
On a motion moved by Kevin Riley and seconded by Joe Piper, the Board elected Chad O'Donnell as chairperson and selected Kevin Riley as vice chair for the next aldermanic year; the motion passed with all members voting aye (O'Donnell, Kevin Riley, Piper, Mickleitz). The Board then approved minutes from June 4 on a motion and second. The board also approved a list of payments under item 5a; Alderman Piper asked whether payment #8 related to generator transfer switch work at several fire stations and staff confirmed the payment covered electrical/generator-related work.
During communications staff listed several notices and bid closings due in late June, including a rebid for Gredey/Greedy Park irrigation installation, a Greenway Terrace playground resilient-surface rebid (which came in over budget), the Luke Avenue/Walton Avenue street improvement project, Reuben Drive pump station replacement, and the Waukesha Public Library revolving-door project. Aldermen asked about the high bid on Greenway Terrace and staff said they will adjust bidding specs and reach out to more contractors to try to obtain better pricing.
The Board adjourned after completing the agenda.
