The Norton Select Board voted June 18 to hold the Sept. 1, 2026 primary at Town Hall, 72 East Main Street, with poll hours of 7 a.m. to 8 p.m., after a late recommendation from interim clerk staff.
Town Manager Mr. Gould explained the change was required by state rules because the polling location had been changed in the last two years and that the clerk recommended the Town Hall for logistical reasons and state voting equipment access. He also warned that the state had automatically removed residents who did not return the census from the voting list and that about 6,000 mailers would be sent notifying those residents about re‑registration requirements.
Board members discussed whether the general election might need a different location if turnout increases and asked staff to check parking capacity at the middle school as a contingency. A motion to designate Town Hall for the primary was moved, seconded and approved by voice vote. The board said it will revisit the general election location later in the season if needed.
The board also set its next regular meeting for July 9 to allow time for necessary end‑of‑year transfers involving the Finance Committee.
