Selectboard discusses transfer-station hours, shoreland zoning approval and budget timeline

The selectboard covered several administrative items including shoreland zoning, transfer-station operations, an addressing-ordinance revision and budget timing.

A member reported receiving approval from D on the shoreland-zoning portion of the town’s land-use ordinance. The board discussed changing transfer-station hours to Wednesdays and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., with implementation likely in spring; members noted a need for lighting if afternoon hours are added and said an operations manual is nearly complete and necessary to pursue grants.

The board also reviewed a proposed revision to the addressing ordinance that would impose a $500 minimum charge for changing a road name or adding a road to cover the cost of signs and posts; the draft will be circulated to the ordinance-review committee. Members set a deadline of Feb. 1 for departmental budget submissions so a first draft of the town budget can be ready by the end of March, with the understanding that final town action depends on the school and county numbers and completion of the audit.
