The Rockwall Historic Preservation Advisory Board voted unanimously to approve a $1,000 small matching grant to help restore an original wood‑framed stained‑glass window at 402 Munson Street.
Staff told the board the project’s total valuation is $3,300 and that the request meets the intent of the small matching grants program, which provides up to $1,000 per qualifying project. The staff member said the board had approved two other small matching grants in fiscal year 2026 and that, if approved, the fund balance would drop to $2,500; staff also reported that 24 notices were sent to property owners within 200 feet and that no responses were received.
Sarah Allegretto, co‑applicant and homeowner at 402 Munson Street, said she and her partner bought the house in December and plan to restore the window to its original appearance. "We were able to salvage all of the colored glass from the window and it's gone back in," Allegretto said. She told the board that tempered glass will replace the clear panes for safety while the colored glass will be reinstalled.
Committee member Clara and other board members asked staff to confirm the grant limit; staff replied that the small matching grant cap is $1,000. Board members said the application aligns with the program’s purpose to preserve original historic features rather than fund full replacement. The chair moved to approve the grant and the board recorded a unanimous vote, 5–0–0.
The action is recorded under public hearing item H2026‑003. After the vote the historic preservation officer offered to answer questions but had no formal update; the chair adjourned the meeting at 06:08.
