Council approves $191,065 turf installation at Miracle League fields to support inclusive recreation

Council members approved a $191,065 contract to replace existing surface material at the David Price Miracle Fields with certified Miracle League turf.

A staff presenter and council members described the field as a long-running model for inclusive recreation and said updated turf and technologies will improve accessibility and reduce maintenance. The presenter noted only two companies are certified to install Miracle League surfaces and the selected vendor was both suitable and slightly less expensive than the alternative.

Council members and staff praised the longtime community impact of the Miracle League program, emphasizing the role of volunteers, buddy programs and year-round activities in fostering inclusion. The motion to approve the installation passed on a roll call vote.
