Council approves design amendment for hypochlorite-generation replacement at Stones River plant; construction estimated at about $2.2 million

City staff described amendment two to the Stones River Water Treatment Plant project, recommending design of a MicroClaw hypochlorite-generation system to replace an aging Claw Tech unit. Staff said the original system’s parts have become obsolete and that the MicroClaw design (amendment two) is estimated at $270,587 for design work; estimated construction costs are about $2.2 million.

Staff explained the current system was 17 years old and that the proposed replacement would provide multiple cell redundancy so that a single cell failure would not take the entire rack offline. Council moved and approved the task order amendment by roll call.

The project will proceed to design; construction will follow according to standard procurement and budget processes and will be scheduled and funded per department capital plans.
