Design Review Board approves multiple COAs, postponements and elects new officers

The Knoxville Design Review Board on June 17 acted on several applications and internal items: it postponed two applications for 30 days, approved three certificates of appropriateness, and elected new officers.

Certificates of Appropriateness and project approvals:
- 2703 Persing Street (Case 5C26H): Staff recommended approval of a new three‑unit townhouse featuring fiber cement lap siding with brick accents and front porches. Applicant Logan Higgins confirmed revisions; the board moved and approved the COA per staff recommendations. Conditions include final site plan meeting city engineering standards and minor revisions approved by staff.
- 22000 Sycamore Drive (Case 6B26H): The board approved a new two‑story duplex subject to conditions requiring a walkway to the street, a minimum 6x6 porch post, foundation built as depicted, and a healthy rear tree to remain if possible. Applicant Autumn Marell clarified siding intent (horizontal siding overall, vertical on bumpouts) and porch construction history during discussion.
- 3350 Midway Street (Case 6A26H): Initially moved to the bottom of the agenda when the applicant was not present, the board later revisited the case when applicant Jesse Alicon joined. The board approved the COA with conditions including porch screening and that the foundation be built as depicted; members noted concerns about foundation height and stairs should conditions change.

Elections and recognition: Jared Worsham was elected chair and Sarah Martin elected vice chair. The board presented a certificate of appreciation to Suzanne Teravella, who is leaving the board.
