Nebraska City honors Police Captain Lonnie Neeman for 36 years of service

Mayor Bryan Bequette publicly recognized Police Captain Lonnie Neeman at the Jan. 19 Nebraska City Council meeting for 36 years of service with the Nebraska City Police Department, noting Neeman’s pending retirement. Neeman attended the meeting with family members and fellow officers, and the recognition was recorded in the minutes.

The proclamation portion of the meeting also designated January through July 2026 as the official period of celebration in Nebraska City for the 250th Anniversary of the United States, and city officials acknowledged routine departmental reports including the annual firefighters training-hours report for 2025 and a monthly progress report from Goodlife Ag, LLC presented by John Humphrey.

City Administrator Perry Mader provided an administrative report and the treasurer presented month-end totals as of Dec. 31, 2025: $8,514,783.62 in city funds and $10,425,020.97 in Nebraska City Utilities cash and reserves, for a combined total of $18,939,804.59. The council then proceeded to consider and approve agenda items including grant agreements, contract task orders and routine motions before adjourning at 6:58 P.M.
