Planning and Zoning Administrator Shelby Moore told the commission that the recent Grantsville Rodeo was a strong community success, with Friday seating filled and Saturday reaching standing‑room capacity. Moore said there were minor sound issues Friday that were corrected before Saturday and that while a few rodeo‑related injuries occurred, none required ambulance transport and all affected individuals were able to walk away from the incidents.
Moore highlighted event features including a skydiver carrying the American flag and nationally recognized contestants, and she thanked volunteers and sponsors. Community Development Director Bill Cobabe confirmed the rodeo was funded entirely through sponsorships and ticket sales and did not use City funds.
Shelby Moore and Bill Cobabe said staff is preparing to solicit proposals for the City’s General Plan update using a Transportation‑Land Use Connection Grant; staff expects to distribute a scope of work to pre‑qualified consulting firms and aims to have a contract ready for consideration by early August. Commissioners discussed potential arena improvements, including additional bleacher and tailgate seating, and the increased use of the arena by local organizations such as 4‑H.
No action was required on the staff reports; items were provided for information and future discussion.
