Fridley updates stadium, pool, middle‑school and Safe Routes projects; asbestos tests pending

At the June 16 meeting, facilities staff provided photo updates on district construction projects funded by the recent bond, including stadium remodeling, pool reconstruction and middle‑school window replacement, and reported progress on a Safe Routes trail linking Common Park to Jackson Street.

Michelle summarized work at each site: stadium excavation and crane work are visible on site; pool renovations have concrete poured and new shower plumbing in place with curing timelines; bleacher areas are being rebuilt; the middle‑school project has moved to abatement and staff relocations while windows are replaced; Safe Routes trail work along 6th Avenue and 7th Street is active with city partners supporting construction. Michelle said three asbestos tests have been run at excavation areas, one returned negative and two results are pending; environmental contractors and state pollution‑control officials have reviewed the approach.

Administration said it will continue to post photo updates and provide construction reports at the July meeting and promised to inform the board if any construction issues affect district operations.
