District staff told the Finance Personnel Committee on June 18 they are actively recruiting for roughly 19 certified/administrative positions (about 15 certified/tutor roles) and multiple nonteaching roles, including custodial and transportation openings, and that a parking fee proposal is being considered for board action.
Personnel update: "So far we have posted a total of 19; 15 of those are certified teachers including our tutors and our building subs," personnel staff said. The committee heard the assistant superintendent role has been filled and searches continue for a transportation director and a payroll and benefits specialist.
Transportation and staffing strategies: Staff described training and pipeline work for bus drivers, a proposal to post a full-time float (a standby driver who can cover routes last minute), and pilot use of vans for some routes because van certification is shorter (about four hours). Personnel staff said the district has been working with an ESC specialist to review routes for efficiency and expected to post routes after the bargaining and bid timeline.
Custodial and midday shift: Custodial has about five nighttime openings; Mr. Allesic proposed reorganizing an existing position at Riverview into a midday shift to support added preschool hours without adding FTEs. Staff said the midday shift (roughly 10:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.) would be covered by existing staff reallocations.
Fees and facility work: Mr. Hall is proposing reinstating a student parking fee (previously $50) to support principal accounts and offset costs such as graduation; staff compared fees charged by nearby districts and added the district will seek board review. The committee also reviewed scheduled parking-lot seal-coating, striping and a reconfiguration by Gina that will be on the approval agenda.
Next steps: Staff will finalize postings, continue recruitment, present any fee proposal to the board for consideration, and bring contracts and facility work to the board agenda for approval.
