Board members used the meeting to close the school year with routine reports, community announcements and brief committee updates.
The superintendent thanked policy committee members and staff, congratulated students and faculty for the year, and reported the district had logged 989,000 student reading minutes toward a goal of 1,000,000 minutes by June 30. He also thanked the board president for his service and congratulated Mr. Tuttle on his newly approved three-year contract as assistant superintendent of business.
Board member Jamar offered a community announcement celebrating Juneteenth: he said the city’s parade would begin at 12:30 p.m. on Main Street between Perry Street and the waterfront, with a family festival including entertainment, food and activities at Warriors Park from about 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. Jamar also congratulated graduating seniors and encouraged continued focus on student success.
Another board member summarized recent construction-committee work, saying the district will undertake multiple summer capital projects across schools and parking areas and urged patience from parents while projects proceed. The board also discussed recruiting volunteers for the audit committee and noted an inventory of district equipment referenced in the meeting as totaling over $350,000.
The meeting concluded with a motion to adjourn and the board carried the motion.
