District staff said on June 15 that Aurora East USD 131 will continue partnerships with the Aurora Fire Museum and Kids Matter to provide student certifications in CPR and teen mental‑health/first‑aid as part of the Skills for Success curriculum.
Staff said the instruction takes place during the school day and can be included on student resumes to expand employability. The packet lists quotes and staff said the total cost for the program will be $94,500 and will be funded from Title funds; the item is slated for action at the first full board meeting in July.
Committee members asked whether the offering is a summer program or part of the school-day curriculum; staff replied it is offered to students during the school day as a free option in the Skills for Success course. Staff also said about 300 students participated this year in the offering.
No formal action was taken at the curriculum committee; staff will move the contract forward for board consideration in July.
