Resident urges council to reserve ADA parking on North Bend Way

Nicola Overreet addressed the council during the public comment period on June 16 and asked elected officials to consider making at least one public on‑street parking space along North Bend Way reserved for vehicles displaying disability placards.

Overreet said she has been in contact with public‑works staff and described a friend with mobility limitations who struggles to reach downtown businesses because available ADA spaces are mainly in private lots that restrict non‑customer use during business hours. "On my friend's behalf, I'd like to suggest that you all consider the possibility of making one of the public spaces along North Bend Way reserved for folks with disability placards," Overreet said.

Council members thanked Overreet for raising the issue and said staff would follow up; no formal council action was taken at the meeting.
