Lyn Henderson delivered the June update for the State Arts & Education (STA) Center at the Bedford council meeting, reporting current revenues and recent grant activity and outlining near‑term program plans.
Henderson said the center’s current building revenue was reported at about $33,241 (compared with a lower figure at the same time last year) and that STA received notice of a $3,000 Duke Energy grant dedicated to an October skills showcase. She described ongoing talks with True Energy Health Services about using the center as a regional training site for LPN/RN training in partnership with a New York nursing school; a site visit is expected in July and any operations would depend on credentialing with the state of Indiana and related approvals.
Henderson also noted a Department of Defense‑supported regional Momentum Initiative focused on microelectronics workforce development, and she said STA’s local events (including an art show tied to the Limestone Heritage Festival) were progressing. She said two kids camps were canceled for low registration but additional camps are scheduled for July and staffing/marketing adjustments are underway.
Next steps: monitor grant notifications for a larger arts/wedding grant application and follow up on potential training partnership logistics with True Energy Health Services.
