RSU 25 board declares June budget validation referendum passed

The Regional School Unit 25 School Board on June 16 read and adopted the certified returns from the June 9, 2026 budget validation referendum and declared the question passed.

Katie read the vote totals into the record: Town of Bucksport — affirmative 742, negative 337; Town of Orland — affirmative 520, negative 167; Town of Prospect — affirmative 1,274; Town of Verona Island — affirmative 1,026. The board recorded total affirmative votes of 1,491 and total negative votes of 604 and formally declared that the referendum passed on June 16, 2026.

The declaration is an administrative step required after the referendum tally; a certified copy of the computation and declaration of votes will be sent to municipal clerks of the member municipalities, as the board voted.

Separately, the board approved a routine fiscal motion granting the superintendent authority to transfer up to 5% of FY26 funds between cost centers when needed to close out the year. A board member asked that such transfers avoid purchasing major equipment such as vehicles where possible; the superintendent said they would "do my best." The motion passed.

There was no further public action on the budget declaration at the meeting. The board will file the certified vote documentation in district records and send required copies to municipal clerks as part of the statutory process.
