The Wahoo Public Schools Board of Education kept the board’s officer slate unchanged during its January reorganization meeting and approved a series of routine business items. After roll call, members voted to excuse two trustees from the meeting and proceeded to retain the president, vice president, treasurer and secretary as they were in 2025.
Board members then approved the meeting agenda and the minutes from the Dec. 25 meeting and voted to accept claims as presented. The board authorized the president and treasurer as bank signatories and designated the superintendent and business manager as the district’s authorized representatives for banking transactions.
In other actions, the board adopted a lease renewal with the Saunders County Education Agency that extends the district’s rolling seven-year term by one year and approved the 2024–25 audit prepared by Dana Cole & Company after administration explained a depreciation timing discrepancy and related transfers. The board also appointed Robert Barry as the district’s Title N coordinator; trustees said Barry has completed required training for that role.
The board accepted the retirement letter of John Harris, who has served the district for 24 years. Members commended Harris’s long service and acknowledged that finding a replacement will be challenging.
The meeting ended with a preview of future agenda items, including negotiations updates, a possible construction contract for a track project and continued policy review.
