Council approves five‑year extension of Turquoise Circuit Finals Rodeo contract

The Town of Cave Creek approved an amended agreement on June 16 extending its hosting relationship with the Turquoise Circuit Finals Rodeo for an additional five years.

Under the extension, the town will continue a $15,000 sponsorship and receive a $3 per‑ticket surcharge on admissions, with other hosting responsibilities (water truck, arena support) remaining unchanged. Town staff said the original three‑party arrangement with Cave Creek Rodeo Days was revised so Turquoise Circuit now contracts directly with the town; Cave Creek Rodeo Days will continue to support events from a volunteer standpoint.

James, the Turquoise Circuit representative, told the council the event performed strongly last year and organizers plan earlier and broader marketing this year. Council members noted that the event helps identify the town and praised staff for improvements to the rodeo grounds. The motion to approve the amended contract passed by a 7–0 vote.

Next steps: The town will finalize the amended contract and staff will coordinate operational details with the Turquoise Circuit, including any insurance and equipment‑use terms specified in the agreement.
