The Midland School District Board accepted several personnel changes and approved staff hires at its Jan. 19, 2026 meeting.
The board accepted retirements and resignations including Ashlee Roberts (Special Education Teacher), effective Jan. 12, 2026; Tony Conley (Business Education Teacher), John Norris (Elementary Teacher), and Leisa Sharp (Dyslexia Therapist), each listed as retiring at the end of the 2025–26 school year; and the resignation of Amanda Gilbert as Due Process Clerk at the end of the 2025–26 school year. Each of those separations was approved by a recorded motion and the minutes show motions were adopted by a 7-0 vote.
The board approved hiring Leslie Henderson as Administrative Assistant with Due Process duties at Step 9 with an annual salary of $30,469.10 for a 240-day contract, effective Jan. 20, 2026. The board also approved hiring Amanda Gilbert as District Bookkeeper/Treasurer, placed on Step 10 of the District Treasurer salary scale at $33,626.60 prorated from Jan. 20, 2026 to the end of the 2025–26 school year. The minutes state Amanda Gilbert will be required to attain CASBO training and certification, after which she will receive an additional $3,000 yearly stipend.
Late in the evening, following executive session, the board voted to extend Superintendent Toby Crosby's contract by one year to maintain a three-year contract through June 30, 2029, at the same yearly salary of $97,850 for a 240-day contract. That motion was moved by Jeff Moore, seconded by Nathan Wood and adopted 6-0 (the minutes note a board member left at 11:50 p.m.).
