The Clayton County Pioneer Cemetery Commission authorized payment for ongoing mowing at Barnum-King Cemetery and discussed volunteer options for Eastman Cemetery maintenance.
David Beck moved and the commission approved paying Zane Embretson $125 each time the cemetery is mowed, with each mowing requiring prior approval from Chair Lee Embretson. The arrangement covers Barnum-King Cemetery; timing and frequency will be set by the chair.
Separately, the commission discussed access and mowing difficulties at Eastman Cemetery. Paul Young reported he has been in contact with local scout troops about completing maintenance as an Eagle Scout project and identified Scout Quentin Torkelson from Farmersburg as a possible volunteer.
The commission did not finalize contracts or schedules at the meeting; follow-up is expected to confirm mowing dates and any scout-led project proposals.
