The Mills County Board of Supervisors approved a series of routine motions at its meeting, carrying the consent agenda and several personnel and procedural items.
The board voted to approve the consent agenda, which included minutes from the June 9, 2026 meeting and a fireworks permit for 25616 Irish Avenue on July 4. County Engineer Jacob Ferrell presented the annual FY27 secondary road department salary schedule, effective July 1, 2026; the board accepted the schedule after a motion and second. "This is a letter ... we submit to you guys every year before July 1st," Ferrell said while explaining the step-based pay system and differences with union schedules.
On personnel matters the board approved a probationary wage increase for a county office employee effective June 15 and appointed Michelle Howell as motor vehicle deputy in the treasurer's office for a one-year term, tying the position to 80% of the treasurer's salary. The motion to appoint Howell was made, seconded and carried.
The board also set a public hearing for proposed Ordinance 26-06, creating chapter 20 of the Mills County ordinance titled "residential care facilities," for July 7, 2026 at 8:13 a.m. A motion to set that date was approved.
Meetings were adjourned at 9:44 a.m.
