Alexia Jordan, general manager of the state fair, told the Idaho Fair Board on June 16 that the new Barb Renner administration building is nearly complete and the fair is targeting a July 6 move-in date. "If all goes well and according to plan, we hope to be in that building by July 6th," Jordan said.
Jordan said the building is being named for Barb Renner in recognition of a sizable donation Renner made to the fair foundation to support the project. A walk-through was completed the day of the update and only one item remains outstanding before the fair can obtain a certificate of occupancy, Jordan said. She asked commissioners to plan to attend a ribbon-cutting ceremony once a date is set.
The manager said the new office will allow all fair staff to work under one roof, which she described as an operational improvement after a slow construction process. Jordan also noted staff will notify commissioners with formal invitations and credentials for grand-opening events.
The agenda packet identified the presenter as "Alexia Wood," while Jordan introduced herself on the record as "Alexia Jordan, general manager of our state fair." Jordans self-identification is used in this report; the record shows the alternate surname only in the meeting agenda reference.
Next steps: staff will complete the remaining item required for occupancy, seek the certificate of occupancy, and schedule a ribbon-cutting that commissioners have been invited to attend. No formal action or vote was taken at the meeting.
