The Placerville Planning Commission voted unanimously on June 16 to grant the Ma/Meno Hotel project a final six‑month extension of its site plan review and associated variances, extending the entitlement expiration from July 5, 2026 to January 4, 2027.
Carol Kendrick, the city’s development services director, summarized the request for SPR 21‑03 and variances 21‑01 and 21‑02, which originally authorized a 112‑room hotel with meeting facilities and guest dining at 3001 Jakeway Road. The variances allow increased building height in the highway commercial/airport overlay zones and a higher proportion of compact parking stalls (up to about 44%) than the standard requirement.
Kendrick said the applicant has submitted revised construction documents, structural plans, landscape and irrigation plans, and both on‑ and off‑site improvement plans; staff has been actively reviewing the materials and recommended approval of a final six‑month extension — the maximum extension allowed under municipal code section 10‑4‑9 (approvals time‑limited to five years from the original approval date).
Commissioner Stratton moved to adopt the findings in the staff report and grant the extension; the motion was seconded and the commission recorded a 4‑0 vote in favor. No members of the public spoke on the item.
The approval leaves all previously adopted conditions of approval in effect. The chair noted the action is appealable for 10 days.
