At its June 16 meeting the Davis County Commission approved a series of routine administrative items including a settlement, arts sponsorships and a bus-use agreement for senior tours.
County Attorney Neil Geddes presented a settlement and release agreement to resolve an auto-pedestrian claim for $9,627.12, noting the county's claims adjuster and USIP verified attorney fees and medical bills. Commissioners moved and approved the settlement.
Kent Anderson (Community and Economic Development) asked the commission to approve two tourism-sponsored agreements funded from the restricted tourism account: $10,000 to Centerpoint Legacy Theatre for the 2026 season and two shows in the 2027 season, and $10,000 to the Davis Arts Council for its 2026 season. Commissioners praised support for arts programming and approved both sponsorships by voice vote.
Brian Hatch of the Health Department requested approval of a bus-use agreement to provide two buses and drivers for senior tours during Bountiful Handcart Days beginning July 25, 2026; he said there is no age limit for participants and commissioners approved the agreement.
The commission also approved routine meeting minutes for June 2, 2026, and the controller's register and related administrative recommendations discussed previously in a work session.
Why it matters: These items are routine but affect county liability exposure (settlement), cultural programming funded by tourism funds, and senior services provided through the health department. The approvals allow contract execution and program delivery to proceed.
Next steps: County staff will finalize settlement paperwork, execute the sponsorship agreements and bus-use contract, and implement the approved items in department operations.
