Montezuma County commissioners on June 16 approved an employee well‑being concept plan and accepted a $50,000 check from Anthem to launch the program.
The plan was advanced after commissioners said the county has funds available to start the program and could sustain it using savings tied to the county's insurance arrangements rather than drawing on the general budget. A commissioner moved to accept the plan and the Anthem check; the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote.
County officials said the initial $50,000 will be used to get the program off the ground. Commissioners discussed using 'leakage' or savings from the county insurance plan to keep the program sustainable but did not provide a detailed multi‑year funding commitment at the meeting.
The board did not attach any new budget appropriation at the meeting; staff will be asked to report back with implementation steps and any required policy or contracting details. If the program requires future appropriations, those would come to the board for separate action.
