Cedarville city officials took several steps in 2003 to secure and accept a pumper fire truck for the volunteer fire department. Mayor Beverly Pyle told the council the city had applied for a block grant and expected a decision by April 20; she said, if approved, elected officials would need to travel to Hot Springs to accept the award and that delivery would occur after payment.
At a July meeting the council approved designating two additional signees for the pumper truck purchase — Council Member Danny Armstrong and Recorder/Treasurer Jane Dickson — in addition to Mayor Pyle. The council also received word in May that State Senator Ruth Whitaker had indicated the city “may be getting $50,000” toward the pumper truck grant; Mayor Pyle presented that as a prospective contribution, not a confirmed appropriation.
Recorder/Treasurer Jane Dickson later informed the council an 80% payment on the truck would be mailed and delivery should follow within about a week of that payment, with the remaining 20% to be paid within 30 days after delivery. The council adopted all routine administrative steps by unanimous vote and discussed interim use arrangements with the volunteer fire department until the truck arrived.
